I was fortunate to be at Notting Hill Carnival this year and managed to pick up both of Bunny Wailer's Solomonic Singles LP's from Honest Jon's record shop in August '16.

Part 1: Tread Along (1969 - 1966) https://www.piccadillyrecords.com/counter/product.php?pid=110233

Part 2: Rise & Shine (1977 - 1986) https://www.piccadillyrecords.com/counter/product.php?pid=110234

Did anyone else pick up these sets? I'm curious to see what people think about Bunny Wailer's non-Wailers Solomonic material, especially compared to their full blown Wailers releases from the Scratch days of early 70's up to the release of Burning in '73.

I'm a big fan of Bunnys music through all his incarnations.... These two sets are essential IMO.....

Seen him live a few times too, and he was as mystical and powerful in person as he is on record...

Time for a ticket pic methinks... Wink

Nice ticket! I too saw him in Manchester a few years ago, there was something quite magical about seeing a living Wailer perform live.

Indeed.... I saw all three of them live (Tosh & Bunny several times), but alas, not together....

Still an impressive feat Pete. I only got to hear the Wailers Band way back in the late 80's on one of their tours to NZ.

Strangely a couple of years ago a mate passed on a local newspaper clipping to me with the story that Peter Tosh's son (Andrew?) his partner & child had been living with a Maori family in a state house in Cannons Creek/Waitangirua which is a suburb of Porirua City where I grew up.

Apparenty they had been there for some time & were living with members of one of NZ's very early reggae groups 'Dread Beat & Blood'.

The last place I'd expect a Jamaican reggae artist to appear!

Who would of though eh........

When I read your post above, Jason, I was immediately reminded of Marvin Gaye's time living in Belgium.

He would be in a local bar having a beer and talking (unrecognised) to locals:
"What do you do?"
"I farm cows. What do you do?"
"I sing."
"Oh"
