BLACK MUSIC: APRIL 1976

FROM JA TO UK - A BRITISH REGGAE ROUND-UP: An in-depth survey by Carl Gayle:-

THE MEDITATIONS

Line-Up: Cecil (lead guitar), Dillon (rhythm guitar), George (bass), Dennis (drums), Dudley (lead vocals).

Record Company: Jama

Latest Release: "I`m A Loner" (Love).

Background: Originally a six-piece until the death of Tony Brown (Dillon`s brother) late last year. He`d been the keyboard player and joint composer of their first disc, "Sympathy", which sold quite well. A talented teenage outfit.

Prospects: The release of the next disc "Johnny", composed and sung by the deceased shoul be a big seller. A band with potential.

I really rate 'Sympathy' and 'I'm A Loner'. They didn't seem to do anything else after Jama unless they'd morphed into a different outfit.

And I see Brian Keyo was asking after them over on Pama. I'm sure there's a slightly more detailed piece on the group in BM incorporated in a spread about Jama.

So it's Tony Brown and Dillon Brown, but do we have surnames for the others?

Nice one, Andy. I'll have this Friday off, so I will try, and lend a hand, then. Smile
