Slave Driver (Sioux) - Nothing to do with any of the King Horror's. I'm sure this is a cash-in version which helps us in as much as it lists 'E Davey' as the artist on the Reggae label version.

My copy on the Reggae label lists the artist as KING HARROR. Shocked

That's probably someone completely different Mr. Green

I read that Clive 'Azul/Lizzard' Hunt was the Tiger vocalist... I'm not sure that's correct Shocked

Sounds hugely dubious to me Lee.

Just re-reading Phil's sleeve notes from Pressure Drop's CD of Laurel Aitken productions, Joe Mansano also makes reference to Lloyd Campbell/Lloyd the Matador being one of the King Horror's (apparently, he was no looker). Could he have been the KH on 'Dracula Prince of Darkness'?

And Steve Barrow insists that Laurel was Tiger Shocked I'm sure it was down somewhere that Tiger was just some guy from South London who made a few tunes for Laurel and then took off.

I just had a quick run through the other KH titles:

Ghost Hour (Reggae label) - Lochness Guy
Frankenstein (Nu-Beat) - Lochness Guy
Dracula Prince of Darkness - not convinced this is Lochness Guy (and that means this one can't be Laurel - he wouldn't have recorded for Mansano would he?)
Slave Driver (Sioux) - Nothing to do with any of the King Horror's. I'm sure this is a cash-in version which helps us in as much as it lists 'E Davey' as the artist on the Reggae label version.

Not forgetting this one........

I notice the person who uploaded that, Brian, is 'e Dave'... Very close to the credit Marc mentioned above...

This is the same KH that appeared on 'The Hole' and 'Slave Driver', no?

What a load of bollox this one is. A set of mundane lyrics set against a completely monotonous beat devoid of any rhythm. Much as I love British Reggae from pretty much any era, there was some right tripe let loose.

Found this nice likkle compilation of KH tunes for quick comparisons:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_9vVJLTaEn8

While it's been suggested there's three KH's, my ears decipher two different styles. One gruffer, than the other, but both gruff, nonetheless....

As much as it's suggested as fact, I just can't seem to pick up anything that gives it away as Laurel Aitken, on either KH's.....

Marc's right about British Reggae....Some of these tunes are ghastly!

I've been wondering whether one of the number of King Horrors was this chap:

https://www.discogs.com/Big-Davy-Lover-Boy/release/6129591

It may be earlier in this (long) thread, but it's been said that one of the Horror's was a Calypso artist name of 'Lord Davey'.

There's this one:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D6pma2XRQb8

which sounds like the KH who did 'Cutting Blade' and 'The Hole'.

Then this one:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=46wM4Dg8t4c

Different artist (actually Junior Smith) but same song - but look at the composer credit.

So, Big Davy was indeed an artist who recorded in an 'Island' style, moving to Soca in the `80s. And if his LP is anything to go by, he recorded in a risque stylee. So my money would be on him.

Assuming "Evril Davey" was also "Lord Davey", then "yes" Wink

I'm happy that Evril "Lord/Big" Davy was the main King Horror

Excellent sleuthing, sir! I think you've solved the riddle! Now, to get those liners, from those Laurel Aitken sets, up to date! Laughing

Well done! Cool
