Exactly, a bit of sarcasm me thinks, ie: "get back on your banana boat" _________________ Skinhead 1979 |

I'd have helped her row, to a more secluded locale, to spend quality time, with the lass! _________________ It seems that our brave new world is becoming less tolerant, spiritual and educated than it ever was when I was young.

The duets with Roy Panton, were much tastier, than the rest of the set, as a whole. _________________ It seems that our brave new world is becoming less tolerant, spiritual and educated than it ever was when I was young.

Yes that's the one. Never been a fan; her voice spoiled many a ska duet for me, but I'm pleased that she enjoyed the success that so many other artists of merit never attained. |

Agreed about the deserved success she got, Andy and understand about how her voice might annoy!
It doesn't annoy me, as I "sort of" grew up with it - it's the voice of some others (like Prince Lincoin and Beres Hammond) that grate with me... _________________ Play it nice and cool, son. Nice and cool! You know what I mean.

I remember reading a piece on the lyrics to 'Melting Pot'. I'm not sure whether there's an official ban on it as such, more that it just won't get on a playlist.
How bloody PC daft is that |

I always thought it was a song about racial harmony. _________________ Natty ago watch the baldhead hairdresser; real live wire.

I always thought it was a song about racial harmony. | It is. But, you're not allowed to be human, anymore. You have to be like the Borg. Part of the collective. Or else.
CS Lewis wrote: | Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Oh yeah, the "racist" bit, of the tune, is probably the part about the "chinkee's":
"Oh Lordy, Lordy, mixed with yellow Chinkees, yeah".
