Some may have spotted a reference to this in the website notes for Derrick Harriot's forthcoming Rocksteady Party release.

I've been in touch with Gav and he will be posting some more info in here this week - the reference mentioned above kind of "slipped out" Shocked

There will be occasional "fan club only" releases - definitely limited (unlike the Box Sets Confused Smile)

How you can join/register is not known to me just yet.

There are a couple of other "fan club only" albums under consideration:
Cool Hippy Boys - Reggae With The Hippy Boys
    Cool Joe Mansano - Productions
Cool Tapper Zukie - Escape From Hell (dub)
...however, I stress that none of these are confirmed at all just yet.

There will also be the opportunity to suggest future releases for consideration, though whether this should be along the lines of newly-derived retrospective compilations or re-issues of long-lost albums, I can't say just now.

Your comments on this idea are welcomed and will certainly be appreciated...

Bonjour,

Nice idea... but there's something i don't understand: This is a "fan club issue" so, normaly it should be issued for the "fans"...so, why it should be cost us more than 20 Euros (and without p&p!!) through this TROJAN website therefore this DERRICK HARRIOT' CD is available through AMAZON(.fr) at only 15.00 (and inc. p&p)???????????????????

What means "FAN CLUB" in the TROJAN language?????????????

Hi LORD,

As I understand it, the Trojan website shop is not directly part of Trojan (which may explain why prices are not so competitive) - it's recordstore.co.uk which "boasts partnerships with over 150 record labels"

Here's the text from the Trojan site:

The Trojan Shop is powered by online shopping experts Recordstore.co.uk. The company has been selling CD's online since 1997 and, by boasting partnerships with over 150 record labels, are the leading provider of e-commerce and fulfilment services to the UK music industry.

The company provides a full online ordering service from order creation to despatch and offers a secure connection throughout, ensuring safe online shopping.

For more information click on the 'contact shop' button at the top of your screen.

Recordstore.co.uk are registered with 'Which' consumer organisation and all payments are handled using a 'Secure Server', so you can rest assured that all transactions you make are completely safe.

...AND STILL WAITING FOR OFFICIAL NEWS ON THE "tROJAN fAN cLUB"

What's all this fan club, limited edition stuff?
Surely if Trojan have new or interesting CD compilations worth their salt, make them available to everyone at a competitive price.
I thought the idea was to make money, not restrict themselves to a limited market.
What would Gophall and Walker have made of it all?
Ahh, and only now does it seem a good time to release some Joe Mansano and Hippy Boys material. Yawn . . . the market for that material has been there for ages.
Why is it cheaper to buy from Amazon, rather than the Trojan shop?
If you think this post is just to slag, you'd be wrong. I'm a long time Trojan fan from way back, when 7in singles slid across the counter for 45p. I for one, wouldn't like the Trojan of 2006 to go the same way it did back in around 73.

Hi Dave - still waiting for news on the Fan Club - it's a pity that nothing visible has happened about this in time for the excellent Derrick Harriott release, because it makes Sanctuary appear rather sloppy (it does to me anyway) Confused

The fan club / limited edition idea might be a good one, might be just a gimmick - we'll have to see when details are published.

I've already conjectured earlier in this thread about the prices in the Trojan online shop - it seems that these are not under Trojan's control.

Who knows whether, behind all this, the recent and well-publicised troubles the Sanctuary group have been facing may have more than a little to do with this?

As in many cases, time will tell...Wink

Was visiting the main site and I see that "The Hippy Boys" is to be released on May 22nd as part of the Fan Club & Well i was wondering if there has been any news on exactly what the Fan Club is ? and I see that "Rocksteady Party" is still for sale through main site is there still "limited numbered editions" for sale or are they selling unnumber "Limited Editons" or just plain regular editions ?

Sorry about all the question's, Its just the idea of "Fan Club" interest's me but I'm still unclear about what it is or is it just a "sales gimmick"

Regards ! Exclamation

So far as I have been told, there is no formal fan club...it would seem to boil down to a marketing idea and not much more than that.

However, I haven't had proper clarification yet, so may be a bit wide of the mark.

I'm not aware of unnumbered "Rocksteady Party" albums being produced, though that isn't beyond the realms of possibility - though if it happened, then in the dim and distant future, a numbered edition may attract a few more shekels than an unnumbered one Wink

Marketing idea, tis a shame would be nice if there was something for people like a special email/newsletter. Perhaps there waiting to see how things sells.

Still I'll get the next one on the old emergency credit card

More vynils would be a beautiful present for the hardcore fans (despite some too rare re-issues)
