Well, thanks for your votes for January...this is how it turned out...

1st. Under Mi Sleng Teng (The Dawning Of Digital Reggae) 50.00% 14
2nd. Come Back Darling (Best Of Winston Riley 1968-70) 32.14% 9
3rd. Upsetter Selection - A Lee Perry Jukebox 17.86% 5
(A tired selection - none are worth a vote - 2)

Though some bemoaned the "Sleng Teng" track selection, it has prevailed.

The % doesn't include the "none are worth a vote" votes...

Here's February's...each have their separate qualities.

I'm fairly sure that's where my vote will go too, Moses.

I'll stick my neck out and say that REGGAE GIRL is a strong contender for "release of the Year" already Shocked

...unless Trojan release a whole set of unquestionable "stunners" over the next few months Cool Wink

I actually have all the release's this time, which is odd, Laughing

The Tennors I haven't listen to it yet,

The Roots Of Sky And Robbie i didn't like to much i didn't think the songs fitted well together & Sky And Robbie would be perhaps better shown through instrumentals or something like that Question

Johnny Greenwood Is The Controller is excellent great songs great selection there isn't a bad moment on it.

So I'll have to wait and listen to the Tennors before i can make my mind up.

I thought the Sly & Robbie album might have had some different mixes on it...instead it's just another re-hash of oft-available songs. From that angle, the "Sly & Robbie" title is, in my opinion, misleading, since we associate them with heavier, darker, dubbier material - I do anyway.

The Jonny Greenwood set does indeed have a great set of tunes on it, including several long mixes - as you infer Paul, hardly a dull moment. Trouble was, I had all the tracks elsewhere, the same mixes too.

The Tennors' album is from "my" era, I never bought the LP when it came out - I don't think I ever saw it in my local shop - though was aware of it (my shop tended to be in the "second division" when it came to the Trojan, Pama and Bamboo deliveries, only able to take what was left on the van), I often had to order the tunes I wanted - or pop down to Shepherds Bush Market when I was feeling a bit minted Wink Cool

I checked it for the wicked dub version Tit For Tat the name of the club where the duo first played.

...that's a nice enough dub of Irving 'Al' Brown's do-over of HERE I AM BABY, Gendon - and one of only a couple of tracks on here I didn't already have (not as TIT FOR TAT anyway Confused)

The Tennors i got it and enjoyed it but with 2 CDs you allways find yourself asking well what would i leave off and have one CD Wink It is a strong good release great mixture of classic era "68/70" though I'm leaning towards Jonny Greenwood selection as it is a great collection for bringing in new fans which is as important as pleasing the old fans.

I'll give it a few days before i cast my vote.

I still haven't voted yet...

Tennors - excellent set - hardly a dud tune. Probably a good number haven't been on CD before (or at least, recently)

The Jonny Greenwood set has grown on me

...and the Sly and Robbie album is OK - though the tracks are too common...
