Pete (Half Soldier) has pointed out a flood of new users signing up very recently.
I'd been checking a small number of new users (I sometimes check to see if, say, a website addres looks "dodgy"), but haven't done since mid last week.
This announcement is just to say that I plan to summarily delete all these users, unless anyone can tell me why I shouldn't.
I'll have some time tomorrow (Tue 16-Oct) and will make a start then.
"Real" new users, speak now or be blatted!!!

It might be an idea if a ruling was made that people signing up introduced themselves in the SAY HELLO topic within say 3 or 4 days or they were deleted. If it was possible to set this up as an automatic thing it would also save you a lot of time with these regular culls you do Joe.

And another 34 have joined today. So far ... 
I notice there was none joining on 20/10 and 21/10, so whatever is adding them presumably has the weekends off.

300 deleted - another 600-700 to go...
...plus cleaning up new ones that get added - these seemed to have slowed down a bit. Either the perpetrator is getting bored or my banning of email addresses is "biting".

I've changed the title of this topic - to stop the continuing influx of spam accounts, I'm going to ban all new accounts using hotmail.com as the email address.
I hope this will be temporary.
Just hope that I don't get locked out (I have a hotmail.com email address)...
Thinks...I think I'd better change it for a short while...
