Fiftyish years old (damn! Can I be that old???) ska lover from Uppsala, Sweden. Started as almost everybody else with Bob Marley, Peter Tosh and other reggae artist but began very soon to surf on the second wave of ska with Madness, Specials, Symarip, Bad Manners etc. Today I listen to almost any ska, rocksteady or reggae artist except ska-punk, ska-metal or other attempts to merge ska with other styles. Record collector (obsessive record collector, my wife says...) since youth. Love Trojan box sets! A bit of a statistics fanatic - I found this page via the great savagejaw-page about Trojan Box sets.

Hi Johan and welcome - please join in.

Glad you were able to log in...thanks for the background info.

I also don't like those Ska-<anything> forms - it just doesn't work for me.

I'm not a big fan of second-wave Ska (2Tone, Stiff stuff etc.) either, although a few of those tunes caught my ear.

Give me 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 00s, 10s Jamaican music (well, most of it) any day!

Cool

Well me too! The list in my post was more like "help! the ship is sinking and I can only take this music with me to the life raft". But anything from Laurel Aitken to Westbound Train works fine with me as long as it have a back beat and no anti-gay, rasist or sexist lyrics. No Bujo Banton with other words...
