Only Danny Hernandez was a new name for me.

All tunes available on YT, JJ, if you are so minded.

These CDs also arrived at work...

...I should have checked the above, as there were only a couple I didn't already have (Deodato's SUPER STRUT being one, so that was OK), but there were also several I didn't have on the convenience of CD, only vinyl, like Eric Gale's FORECAST and George Benson's SUPERSHIP, so that was also OK...

DISC ONE
    1. ALSO SPRACH ZARATHUSTRA - Deodato
    2. JAWS – Lalo Schifrin
    3. WHAT A DIFFERENCE A DAY MAKES – Esther Phillips
    4. COULD HEAVEN EVER BE LIKE THIS – Idris Muhammad
    5. WESTCHESTER LADY – Bob James
    6. SHOOGIE WANNA BOOGIE – Dave Matthews
    7. GRAND PRIX – Fuse One
    8. THE CHICAGO THEME (LOVE LOOP) – Hubert Laws
    9. BARRETA’S THEME (KEEP YOUR EYE ON THE SPARROW) – Ron Carter
    10. BREAKOUT – Johnny Hammond
    11. WILDFLOWER – Hank Crawford
    12. MAMA WAILER – Lonnie Smith
    13. SAY YOU LOVE ME – Patti Austin
DISC TWO
    1. SUPERSHIP – George “Bad” Benson
    2. BALTIMORE – Nina Simone
    3. FOLLOW YOUR HEART – Joe Farrell
    4. BE YOURSELF – Kenny Burrell
    5. FORECAST – Eric Gale
    6. POLAR AC – Freddie Hubbard
    7. FLUTE SONG – George Benson & Joe Farrell
    8. IT’S GOING TO TAKE SOME TIME – Gabor Szabo
    9. SUGAR – Stanley Turrentine
    10. RED CLAY – Freddie Hubbard
    11. SUPER STRUT – Deodato
    12. HOME IS WHERE THE HATRED IS – Esther Phillips

...and this one just caught my eye, so I "bought it blind", because I thought it was "worth a punt"...

I only know a couple of the tracks, but the soundies (in the link below) impressed me...

Both of those sets, are killer. The latter, though....Watch out. That is some serious, serious, lyrical content. Not that it's a bad thing. It's just not music, you can't pay attention to, that's all. Wink

That's alright. As you (probably) know, with me lyrics are usually a distant second behind the music itself...I'll pick up on them later on.

It's the better sound quality Island issue from later - it hasn't arrived yet, but I'll post details when it does.
