Hi all

Just came across this board whilst attempting to research my way into a decent knowledge of Reggae (Dub in particular) and it seems a perfect place to glean some info from good people.

I live in Oz but am actually a NZ'er. My musical tastes lean towards the weirder end of Prog, Kraut, Folk, Jazz and dance music.

I probably own less than 20 dub or reggae records (Super Ape, Black Ark Players , a couple of Scientist albums and few other bits and pieces). Having spent the last week or so listening to nothing else but those records for whatever reason I've decided to jump down the rabbit hole. I think it kind of started after listening to the Bill Kouligas Boiler Room made up of nothing but reggae 7"s a few times that got me going. I recognised none of it and after a quick look through an online specialist store for reggae I was completely baffled by the 7" section. So hopefully I'll learn a bit from you guys and girls.

Regards

Welcome to the forum, T Smile

We will be only to pleased to try and help, although sometimes, even after 40+ years of listening/buying, your statement above can still apply Wink

Welcome...
I'm a very small fan of "traditional era" Prog, a decent-sized fan of "Jazz" though more the Jazz-Funk and Funk-Jazz variety and have had a soft spot for Dance music (including House, Club, Techno and Trance) for a few years.

Of course, Prog, Folk, Jazz and Dance can each mean something different!

What's this "Reggae"?

Maybe they've been working with Bruce, Bruce, Bruce, and Bruce? Confused
