It is a bit of a stinker...

Maybe one of the earliest versions...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_RXnKx569zg

Archibald & his Orchestra (1950)

Like (I suspect) many others, the Lloyd Price version was the first I came to know.

Pete will be along with the playlist later and this time, the laptop was plugged in, so I managed to capture the whole session, which I'll edit and upload.

In the meantime, here's my post from earlier on Facebook:

Well, it was another very busy and difficult-to-get-to-the-bar night at the Fox & Hounds (Caversham). The pub was pretty busy all evening and been very nicely decorated for Christmas, with the outside area being especially spectacular.

Once again, Pete Schaffert and I went tune-for-tune, with Steve Bell doing a 45-minute session in mid-evening.

We mixed the tunes up between popular and lesser-known (with a handful of Christmas-based songs), but were unable to fulfil separate requests for the Upsetters' RETURN OF DJANGO and Max Romeo's WET DREAM - both tunes sitting snugly on our shelves at home. In my case between other Upsetter and Unity records respectively, but I don't know how Pete files his. Typical, as I always carry 10-12 hits with me, just in case.

...and as always, we raised a quiet glass to our mate Martin Weller with a few dedicated tunes.

As usual, thanks to those who came along, listened and in some cases enjoyed, especially Kev Cronogue, Alvan Whittaker (and his friend) Spencer, Chandresh Malde, Sean, Pat (and her sister) Anne, plus those we've seen there regularly and not forgetting Kev, Kerri, Sophie and the bar staff for "putting up" with the music.

Pete and Steve may post their tunes up in here, but in the meantime, here are the records that found their way from my boxes to deck number 2:

...and here's the session!

https://www.mixcloud.com/joe-zapatoothetiger-lawrance/15-dec-2017-reggae-steady-go-session-29-the-fox-hounds-caversham-3rd-fri-each-month/

All 4h 10m of it!

Enjoy!

I'll listen this week - I find it better after the event, because on the night I'm always to busy or distracted to listen properly...which ain't easy when the speakers are in front of you anyway!

Ta mate.

Encouraging to know.

I had to tweak a few tracks with both down and up amplification (mostly up though) and remove a few gaps, but not that many in truth.

That's an impressive set, fellows. Quite a few, don't ring any bells, either. So I'm looking forward, to giving this, a gander, either tomorrow, or later this week. Well done! Cool Cool Cool

Thanks - I'm glad we record the sessions as it gives me a chance to listen properly - too busy and distracted on the night and too much noise...

...at least the few skips on this one are "proper" ones, from records Confused Confused
