THE LIQUIDATOR (Harry J All Stars)
Release date: June 8
Code: DBCD012

Expanded version of one of the most popular reggae albums of all time. Features recordings new to CD. Booklet contains extensive Harry Johnson bio and rare memorabilia imagery. After launching his career as an independent producer in 1968, Harry Johnson swiftly made his mark as one of Jamaica’s most capable and demanding music makers. An array of popular singles ensued and after just 12 months in the business, he hit the jackpot with his first international hit, ‘Liquidator’. Performed by some of Jamaica’s premiere session musicians, the record peaked at number 5 in the autumn of 1969, with its success promptly followed by an immensely popular long-player of the same name. The seminal boss reggae instrumental collection is now further enhanced with a dozen bonus tracks from Harry Johnson’s eponymously named All Stars band.

I may plump for this one. Those bonus tracks, are enticing. A goodly number, I don't have in the library. Smile

Will be nice, to hear what all the fuss about "Liquidator" is about. Wink

Looking forward to this one. I hope Laurence has got the two cuts of The Dog the right way round.

It wasn't too long ago we were discussing it here.

Ah, so here is the missing "DBCD012". But now they've skipped over "DBCD015" instead.

I heard a rumour that an expanded Phyllis Dillon One Life To Live is in the works, so maybe that will turn out to be it. That one had a recent vinyl reissue on Real Gone Music, and a couple of others that came out at the same time were Ken Boothe Freedom Street and Desmond Dekker You Can Get It If You Really Want, all Trojan albums, don't know if there is any connection between that and what is coming out on Doctor Bird, but maybe an indication. Question

Freedom Street was planned for Doctor Bird, but I think it's on the back-burner now.

That's a shame, it's a great album and it would also be great to see more Leslie Kong productions get reissued. Hope they will do it eventually.

There's one coming before too long.

They are a mixture of The Jayboys and Harry J All Stars.

Yes. Both acted as Harry's 'house band'.

The "band" names are a bit of a giveaway Mr. Green
