I recently started to collect the Trojan Box Sets and though that maybe the members of this forum could point me to some record stores that I don't know.

So many times I came across these box sets in records stores and never gave them the attention they deserve. It's only after purchasing the ROOTS box set and the 12-INCH box set that I realized the quality of these compilations. Today I bit my fingers when I see the prices of copies in 'Mint' condition.

I started five weeks ago and was able to gather 50 of them so far... (probably all my music budget for 2017 will go into this!!) Among the 19 I'm missing, some are difficult to find at an affordable price in 'Mint' or 'Near Mint' condition. I visited eBay, Amazon (resellers), Discogs, PriceMinister, Fnac, CDandLP, Barnes And Nobles and the main reggae webstores that I know, but maybe you know of a store that still carry some copies or a collector that purchase more than one copy.

This is the list of stores that I've already checked: Ernie B, ReggaeCollector.com, ReggaeRecord.com, Reggae Fever, Dub Vendor, Reggae.co.uk, Deadly Dragon Sound, Drum & Bass Records, Reggae Museum, Lion Music Den, Irie Records, Aquarius Records, Irie Ites, BuyReggae.com, Stamina Records, Lion Vibes, Music Rebel, Cocobeat, CrazyBeat, Juno. 95% of these stores don't even have copies for sale anymore.

The best way I found so for is to check eBay's auctions or contact the stores on Discogs... Anybody have an extra hint?

Thanks in advance

A simple Google search may help your quest:

Good hunting!

I have all 69...

The last one was issued in July 2007 "Trojan Country Reggae Box Set" (TJETD365)

I think this one isn't an actual release - though it may be an unofficial "shot":

http://www.taringa.net/comunidades/skaclub/3159812/Trojan-Reggaeton-Box-Set-2011.html

The words "Trojan" and "Reggaeton" would never appear in the same sentence / phrase!

Thanks for the Google link Andy Cool

The thing is, with last one being released the thick end of 10 years ago and these being (apparently) limited editions...but how many we never found out...any site maybe no better than any other, i.e. it'll be very hit and miss finding any.

have you tried juno and honest jon's?

Was there ever a 'Producers' box set? I know there's been a more recent Trojan double so my mind may be playing tricks with me on this.

Indeed, Marc.

Thanks Joe - I was remembering it rightly then.

Looking at that track listing, I can see that I've got probably 80% of them here and there and must have given it a miss at the time. I do fully intend picking up the newer 2CD set though, which is in my local HMV and (I think) features Winston Scotland's 'Buttercup' which I don't remember from any previous CD.

Postscript: I've 37 out of the 50.

I think I have most of them, but I can't get to them!

I don't have access to anything anywhere! I might have to dump all the records!

I don't know if the 69 number includes them, but there were a couple of "store exclusive" sets released in the UK and Japan. Nothing unique to them I don't think, just cuts from the other sets. I know HMV and Tower each had one.

Thanks for the suggestion. 'Honest Jon's' was a store I wasn't aware of. I check and no... Today I found a nice feature in eBay which allows to check the auction that ended and the price that people paid. I realized that several 'Near Mint' copies were sold at reasonable price in the past three months, so I just have to be patient. If anyone is currious, that feature on eBay is located in the upper bar, where it says 'Advanced' and after you have to check 'Sold Listings'. The ROOTS REGGAE box set is becoming one of the rarest.

There is a nice page to see the 69 box set. I tend to think, 'Yes' that number was probably made on purpose.
http://www.savagejaw.co.uk/trojan/index.htm

I can definitively think of other Box Set that could have been done:
Trojan British Reggae Vol.2 (as the first one is so popular)
Trojan Skinhead Reggae Vol.2 Box Set
Trojan Reggae Sisters Vol.2 Box Set
Trojan DJ Vol.2 Box Set
Trojan Producers Vol.2
Trojan Joe Gibbs Box Set
Trojan Bunny Lee Box Set
Trojan Black Ark Box Set
Trojan Treasure Isle Box Set
Trojan Channel One Box Set
Trojan Island Box Set
Trojan Reggae Chartbusters Box Set
Trojan Rock N' Roll Tribute Box Set
