Great work, Andy!
Really looking forward to listen in the holidays.

And I sure will add some tracks.
So for today I recommend Serge Gainsbourg, the French Musical Genius. He did a couple of Reggae Albums, recorded in Jamica with Sly & Robbie, The I-Threes and others.
The best album is "Aux armes etcetra" from 1979 and here is the title track:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mLq7EcvRaf0

It's a reggae Version of the French national Anthem. And the right wing People were#nt amused. Legend has it, that they planned to smash up a Gainsbourg concert in Paris. But Serge tricked them and did an acapella Version of the song and that way, he forced them to sing with him.
Clever guy Wink

Cheers Ekki, I didn't include Serge, and he did quite a fair bit of Reggae, and as you say, using 'authentic' musicians.

... the albums you CDR-ed for me Ekki ("Aux Armes Et Cætera" and "Mauvaise Nouvelles Des Etoiles") are long overdue for another airing...

I hope Andy doesn’t mind if I add a couple of more songs.

Egyptian Reggae is based on Earl Zero's "None Shall Escape the Judgment".
Jonathan Richman recorded a second version in 1996 (on the album “Surrender to Jonathan”), this time with the right writing credits.
It’s a tighter version, listen here:

And here is a nice accoustic Version of "Rivers of Babylon" by Steve Earle from 1975:

The Cruel Sea were an Australian band featuring Tex Perkins (Beasts Of Bourbon) on vocals. They did some great instrumentals with reggae and dub influences.
Here is "The Charmer":

And here is a pretty funky Version of Dillinger's "Cocaine":

That one is better (to my ears), although I can enjoy his first shot every now and then.

Thanks for posting that, Ekki mate.

First video "is not available".

I wonder if/presume that the band's name was inspired by either the Ventures' or Dakotas' tune by the same name?

Since they started as instrumental band, I'm pretty sure you're right, Joe!

I have to say, it isn't as good as the 1977 version.
