I only have 3 songs by him, including this scorcher 'King Pharoah Army' included above .

SOUNDIES UP FOR THIS NOW (DCL) Seems it's a mixture of old & newer tracks along side some corresponding dubs & an occasional DJ cut.

I'll pass.

A truly great CD! If you like singers like Jacob Miller, Edi Fitzroy (which I do)
superb production and some truly excellent songs!

Dear JJ,

I have been listening to reggae music for a long long time. And when it comes to sound quality - what standard are you using - Studio One! Joe Gibbs! Trojan! VP! The only label that spent serious money on mastering was Blood and Fire - and I know for a fact that a lot of time - they would rather include a track than exclude it on the basis of sound quality.

When it comes to the actual music on the CD. That is totally subjective. There are loads and loads of albums that have been dismissed out of hand at the time of the release - and now those very same albums are the 'Collectors Items'. For me its always good to see an album released by an artist that I know nothing about!
All the very best
Ray

1) True enough, Ray mate and I've certainly bought my fair share of them - luckily, I rarely get rid of any and a re-visit often delights! ...there will always be a few that never cut it...Soul man Lonnie Hill's "You Got Me Running" LP sounded incredibly weak upon release in 1984 - and not really redeemed by the classic GALVESTON BAY - and when I re-visited it in the mid-90s, time hadn't done it any favours.

2) I agree and sometimes I'll be tempted, although I need soundies to help me decide!

Dear JJ,

When it comes to soul, everyone I like nobody else seems to like them!!!

Allen Toussaint, Lee Dorsey, Latimore, Little Beaver, Roy C.

But all of them have big hits - so I'm not alone!

Someone was telling me something about odd about Roy C, that he didn't
write 'Shotgun Wedding' or something like that.

Take care, all the very best
Ray

A bit of a wheeler and dealer, I've also heard that he (allegedly) would sometimes let his fists do the talking.

...I'm sure they'd know over at Soul Source Wink

Actually, I might be getting Roy C. mixed up with Donnie Elbert...

Well I have just checked and I can't find out nothing odd about that track. But I like Roy C and Donnie Elbert.

My real interest though outside of 'Reggae' is Fifties R&B. So many great singers and instrumentalists!

I wonder if Tony Rounce solved the Fats Domino no singles released in Jamaica puzzle!!!

Keep up the good works Joe!

Take care, all the very best

Cheers Ray Cool

I like a little bit of Roy C. and Donnie Elbert.

Here's my favourite Roy C. piece...

+3(for me, myself, and I) Yes. Bottom of the barrel, talent-wise. Wish I'd never heard any of their music! Mr. Green

Swamp Dog is another one, Timmy Thomas, George McCrae. Some great singers on TK. I know I have left out a few more greats from the southern states!!!

All the very best
