17 North Parade released very interesting anthology double CD sets in the past... but note came out in 2016 and 2017. It's Greensleeves 40th Anniversary and I was expecting several re-releases. Does anyone knows why VP is not issuing more material in 2017? Even the re-release deal with Blood & Fire have seen very little reissues.

A friend told me that he exchanged a few mails with Clive Chin and apparently a compilation of material recorded at Randy's is planed to be issues by the end of the year, but no news of this yet.

In term of reissues or compilations for 2017, I only see:

AFRICA MUST BE FREE BY 1983 (Hugh Mundell)
TWO SEVENS CLASH (Culture)
HEART OF THE CONGOS (The Congos)
STRIKER SHOWCASE (Jackie Mittoo)
GOOD VIBES (Horace Andy)
CLASSIC INSTRUMENTALS & DUB (Augustus Pablo)
TOTAL REGGAE: SPECIAL REQUEST
TOTAL REGGAE: GREENSLEEVES 40TH

And only a few artists got CD release this year (Macka B, Simpkin Project, Bunji Garlin, Mad Professor Meet Jah 9, Alborosie, King Jammy, Queen Ifrica, Christopher Martin, Denroy Morgan, Fay-Ann Lyons, Spiritual).

Is this because the music industry is not doing that good or there is another reason?

I have no info, MGR - maybe it's "quiet" because it's quiet - maybe new contracts and licensing deals are due and are being worked on.

Maybe there is something more "sinister" to it all...

Thanks. VP became one of the major player in reggae. I have mix up feelings about that company... but I'm think if VP is slowing down it's probably giving an sign of the reggae business in general. I know that CD and vinyl are now done for a minority of music lovers, but they haven't released more material on digital format. at least, not that I'm aware of.

I was missing two titles from the list initially posted in the first message" I just updated those two titles: GOOD VIBES (Horace Andy) and TOTAL REQUEST: GREENSLEEVES. VP seems to be more active through their VPAL and Facebook so probably more 'digital only' releases.

It would be nice to see a Reggae Anthology covering the career of Frankie Paul. It wound't be too difficult for them, thy own the rights of many albums.

The 4 CD "Frankie Paul" set (GRE2021) is pretty good, although not an anthology.

Nice to know. It was already on my 'want list' along with 'Most Wanted'.
