Passed away aged 72.

Probably most well-known for his 5-years-after-release-UK-pop-hit LOVE ON A MOUNTAIN TOP, let's remember that his EVERLASTING LOVE and (MY) RAINBOW VALLEY were big UK hits for pop band Love Affair.

Did a nice version of the oft-covered Association song NEVER MY LOVE.

The success of LOAMT revived his career the first single was THE OUTSIDER.

Very sad. He cut some classic tracks.

It's a shame that some of his recordings were overshadowed by cover versions.

RIP Mr Knight. There's a recent-ish clip of him on YT performing 'Everlasting Love' and he looked terribly frail and the voice had completely gone, so I can't say I'm hugely surprised at his passing.

'Somebody's Baby' should be added to the list - covered by Pat Kelly and Desmond Riley. Have to say though that I always preferred the Love Affair versions of his songs - maybe because they were the first I heard.

"Lesser talented British Pop groups of the `60's"? Hmmm. Love Affair may not have played every instrument on their records but they were all heavily orchestrated anyway (like so many pop tunes of the era) and for me really hit the spot. Plus Steve Ellis was a great vocalist.

Reading some of the editorials of the Blues & Soul magazines around that time, it was very biased against Pop cover versions and sometimes against anything non-Soul.
