I don't remember ever seeing this before. So I thought I would buy it. Lots of tracks I have already. What I did notice was that a few tracks are longer time wise than have been issued before.
One I have played a few times is Sweet Sensation by The Melodians. A sister who was a little older than me was always singing this.
Does anyone know if this is how they sounded on the album?

Thanks for any info

Dave.

I've never owned the original LP.

You're one up on me there Dave - I didn't notice any difference. I did pick up the original vinyl LP not so long ago but didn't compare it with the CD. As you say, so much that we probably already have, and I guess that's why I left off hunting down the original for so long.

SWEET SENSATION has "appeared" with different lengths - well past 3m 30s I have in at least one place.

Can't remember what lengths I've got where, least of all how long the single is...

All I can add:

Over the last 25 years, of buying Reggae CD's, I have noticed a difference in either:

the mix, the riddim, the vocal technique, or a combo of the three. IIRC, on "Sweet Sensation-The Best of the Melodians", there's a few cuts on there, of tunes, I was already familiar with(thanks to Beverley's or Trojan 45's), that were new to me.

"Rock It With Me", was one that immediately jumped out, at me, as to having, a different sound, to it. I like this peppier version, better, than the one, I know from 45.

Then again, I might just be ignorant, about something, somewhere, with all of this...... Rolling Eyes

I plan on getting, the expanded version, at some point. It'd be nice, to have "Jaga Jaga War", on CD. Top tune, in my book. Smile

I have no problem at all with longer versions of tracks on albums, in fact I like it, but it really infuriates me when they cut a track short. Mad
