I picked up 'Dust & Grooves' (Adventures in Record Collecting) by Elion Paz for a meagre 8 yesterday at Fopp in Covent Garden.

ISBN-10: 160774869X
ISBN-13: 978-1607748694

I don't own any vinyl but man, this book might just change my mind. If you collect vinyl I should have thought you might have it already. If not, get it.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Dust-Grooves-Adventures-Record-Collecting/dp/160774869X/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1517823021&sr=1-1&keywords=dust+and+grooves

The pictures are wonderful. There are also some interviews. I love the guy who has thousands of 78's who thinks rock 'n' roll is the worst damn thing ever to happen to music and there is no good jazz after 1933.

This is a serious and heavyweight book, my only disappointment is the lack of reggae collectors profiled apart from a brief mention of a Keith Hudson record. The other interesting thing is how crap most of the stereos are.

Enjoy!

The books are in a stack to your left, right by the front door. IMHO it would be worth making a special trip in just to pick it up. As soon as you lift the book (several kilos in weight) and start browsing you will want to buy it, believe me.

For 8 it's probably worth it...but adding a train fare makes it about the same price as at Amazon...

Thanks for the word, Benj.

Shame about the lack of Reggae coverage ... the same as it ever was.

It's a fantastic book. I foolishly, left my copy behind, when I left Los Angeles. I know the ex, enjoyed reading it, and I think has gotten her nephew, into collecting records now, because of it. She gave him, the record player, I had to leave behind, as well. So I guess, in my foolishness, I wound up spreading the gospel, as it were. Laughing
