Well, it was nice trying!

Btw, "Go Tell It On The Mountain" doesn't count as a valid choice since Zapattoo asked us to find his 3 favourite tracks apart from "Go Tell It..."

So this narrows down the choices even more!

True enough Alkis,

"Go tell It On The Mountain" has that great rhythm that I really like - the sort of rhythm favoured(?) at that time by Kong, Eccles and sometimes Sonia Pottinger - probably because the musicians were more or less identical, I should think.

So near and yet so far, Ryan Confused

I can't even remember how "Memphis" goes...Wink

It's a melodica instrumental I think. I wouldn't expect it to be anyone's most favourite Tosh tune, though. Rolling Eyes

I think it must be a case where those who wanted it failed the competition, and other boarders must have all the stuff (on original 7", LPs etc. Wink ). The "board traffic" is somewhat low, as well.

I'd suggest you post a link of the competition thread to other forums, boards (i.e. the Blood & Fire one) before each competition or maybe you could change the style of the questions:

For example:

FILL IN THE BLANKS AND WIN A CD!

WELL-KNOWN REGGAE ARTIST:
P_T_R T_SH

Wink

And then send a mail to me so I am first to answer Wink

Smile Smile Smile

Well, I can say that RasRyan's and Alcibiades final guesses both got 2 tracks right...the third track has still not been chosen yet, according to RR's list of unchosen tracks.

So that narrows it down quite a bit Smile

Remember, order is not important - just the tunes Wink

...and "Go Tell It On The Mountain" is for sure a favourite, but it's been the other 3 favourites I've been posing the Q for...

...I realise that this album isn't the most spectacular...as evidenced by it coming a distant 4th. (out of 4) in the March poll, but doesn't anybody want to win this?

...I also realise that the Qs I pose aren't always that thrilling, though I'm a bit reluctant to ask anything relating to Jamaican musical "facts" as there is almost always "room for manúuvre" and doubt Confused Smile ...such is the rich vein of the relevant information, contradiction, misinformation and indeed lack of information Smile

By the way, I have to say that this album has grown on me the more I've played it...

Regardless of how lucky you've been previously, I heard that bookmakers are not accepting bets for you winning this one! Wink

Congrats, BS! Cool

Congrats, BS! Cool
However, Al, on this occasion I'm pleased to say that Baldy has indeed won it - well done, John!!!

Cool Fat Dog
Cool Downpresser
Cool Rebelution

...all sit alongside "Go tell It On The Mountain" as my favourite tracks on this album Wink

Winston Wright's "Rebelution" was the missing rogue track - folk in this forum are perhaps well aware of my preference for instrumentals and I thought that might have been a giveaway (after all, even if you didn't know the album, Winston Wright almost always equalled instrumentals)

Assuming you haven't moved house John...I'll get this CD in the post on the week-end.

Thanks to everyone who had a go at this Smile - it took a little longer than I'd hoped to get to the finish line, but we got there...

This competition is closed - I have no more freebies to give away at the moment Smile

Wow! Shocked

Thank you very much.

I'm rather partial to Peter Tosh. Don't play his stuff too often - just tend to play it if I'm feeling down and the man's righteousness kind of sorts me out.

Not sure if that makes much sense but I am very pleased to have won!

Thank you very much again. Very Happy

respect

baldy Very Happy
