What A Great Song!!!

Have to agree Colin. My wife asked me to sort out her CDs the other week and I found she actually has two copies of 'Rumours'!

The whole of the "Rumours" LP grew on me over time after I had it aurally beaten into me by a work mate of mine back then!

Babbity Blue

I did not, under any circumstances, believe someone would have posted the first tune! Surprised

Rather fetching, ain't she? The one in the NE corner. Cool

The first one I found musically "odd" or something...I preferred the second.

...and she's quite easy on the eye, that gal!

The first link, features her best known effort: "Don't Make Me". I couldn't believe someone posted the entire 45!

The second link, is your typical peppy, Pop sound, of the era. Works for me, and Babbity, is quite the dish. I guess, I'm doomed, to be like the fellow, in "Pictures of Lilly"! Shocked Mr. Green

"Pictures of Lily"

For those of you, not following the plot! Very Happy

Yup - my other half! Wink

Babbity Blue was actually born as Barbara Chalk but renamed by her managers after she attended an audition for their company at the age of seventeen. Unlike many of her contemporaries she never established herself as a touring act, but instead relied on television and radio exposure to bring her records to the public's attention. Obviously the gambit failed, and after her follow-up single "Don't Hurt Me" completely failed to register she disappeared from sight.

...somebody must have taken one of these to her musical career:

As I recall, her 'Don't Make Me' spent a solitary week at number 48 in the UK charts. As she didn't tour, her musical 'career' must have been remarkably short-lived. I wonder why she didn't try her luck with other companies after she was dropped by Decca? Marriage followed by kids possibly.

I like what you did there.....at the beginning.....Mr. Green

As for the rest.....Spot on. And, I still can't understand, why she didn't try her luck elsewhere. She had a terrific voice! And, was a very pretty girl, to boot! Rolling Eyes

Good points, fellows.....I've thought, these same thoughts, as well. Wink

Also, "Don't Make Me", was originally done, by Jean Thomas, whose career, didn't take off, as it should have. Though, she did sing back-up, for lots of top acts, of the time, so I guess, the royalties, have been handy, in lieu of a major recording career. Rolling Eyes

As for Babbity, I guess she came to the party, late, as the girl group sound, which I like to call, "The Girl Group Sound of '62", had lost its lustre, thanks to four, Scouse, fellows. Still, you had other girl group singers, like Linda Scott(who never sang in a group, IIRC), who simply changed course, and started doing Blue-Eyed Soul. I think Babbity, would have made the change nicely. Smile
