As a confessed person who simply "does not get" dub, I found the rarities set to much better then the standard box- I actually am starting to get it, and this set seems to have a lot of great tunes

i concur about not getting dub. though as i get older i can dig a few tracks here and there. Razz

Can I have an example of 'Forever Version' ?

Thanks!
I would if I could, Claudio, but I'm at the wrong PC...Confused

Dennis Alcapone's FOREVER VERSION is him toasting over Carlton & his Shoes' Stucio One classic LOVE ME FOREVER.

The Heartbeat reissue of this album - as a "de luxe" edition - 116617823 2 (2007) contains not only the original LP track, but also a 9-minute version...

The last LP I picked up was a compilation called "Back At The Hop" put out by Spirit of '69 records. It was okay, but the first in the set "Night At The Hop" was far better.

Very well, very interesting stuff has been discovered in my mailbox after coming back from work today afternoon. I was expecting this package for quite a long time, and now, when it finnally arrived, I don`t have time to play it... Maybe during the weekend...

Gentlemen, let me present you my latest aquisitions:

Let`s start with reggae 7":

- 1969, DU39, Duke Rds, Elizabethan Reggae(Boris Gardner)/ Soul Serenade (B. Lee & The Dragonaries) - Nice One
- 19xx, TR 7722, Trojan, Jimmy Cliff- Vietnam/ She Does It Right
- 1972, TR 7867, Trojan, Greyhound- Floating/ I Troubles
- 1971, TR 7846, Trojan, The Pioneers- Give and Take/ Pride and Passion
- 1972, BI 608, Big Shot Rds, Judge Dread- One Armed Bandit/ Big Six - Probbably my most favourite reggae artist
- 1973, WIP 6244, Island Records, Bob Marely- No Woman No Cry/ Kinky Reggae
- 1980, 101968, Island Records, Bob Marley- Could you Be Loved/ One Drop - Both Bob Marley`s 7' are extremely usefull on reggae parties here in CZ
- 1970, TR7750, Trojan, Nicky Thomas (Love of the Common People)/ The Destroyers (Compass)
- 1975, TR 7956, Trojan, Pluto Shervington- Ram Goat Liver/ Ram Goat Liver Instr.
- 19xx, 14390 AT, Ember Rds, D. Dekker & The Aces- It Mek/ My Precious Love - Some Austrian edition, first song is spelled It Miek. Does this 7" have any value???

followed with some 2tone 7":

- 1979, Stiff Rds, Madness- One Step beyond/ Mistakes
- 1980, BUY 84, Stiff Rds, Madness- Baggy Trousers/ The Business
- 1981, BUY 108, Stiff Rds, Madness- The Return Of The Los Palmas 7/ That`s the way to Do It - I`m not a big fan of Madness, nor 2tone (altough I LOVE The Selecter), I got these 3 singles as a gift with my purchase

and some punkrock 7":

- 1979, VS 272, Virgin Rds, Sex Pistols- C`mon Everybody/ The God Save The Queen Symphony - Two tracks from the Rock n Roll Swinde Movie.
- 1980, CBS 8323, CBS Rds, The Clash/ Mikey Dread- Bankrobber - The Clash, probbably the best band ever.

and some reggae LP`s:

2002, TJBDV030, Trojan, Double LP Rebel Music, a reggae anthology. - I don`t know what to expect from this compilation, I have no clue what kind of music it contains. But anyway, fi I don`t like it, there will be no issue with re-selling this material, as anything that has TORJAN written on it is considered extremely valuable here in CZ

1972, SHM 786, Hallmark Rds, Original Reggae Greats Vol. 1
1974, SHM 827, Hallmark Rds, Original Reggae Greats Vol. 2 - I heard that Hallmark Rds was official re-seller for Trojan stuff for the USA, could you please confirm/deny?

And finally, one supreme CD:

20035, TJZCD214, Trojan, The Clash- Revolution Rock- A Clash Jukebox

Twisted Evil Please, do not take this as a big talk, I`m just so happy!

Nice haul, Apolitico - you've nabbed a few goodies in there - plenty of memories in my case.

Check "Compass" (TR7750-B) a nice sax-led instrumental on the Straight To The Head rhythm - an overlooked B side in my collection for 30+ years Shocked

I couldn't say if your "It Miek" (sic) is worth anything and can't confirm about Hallmark in the USA, though I do know that Hallmark was/is a budget-priced label in the UK, selling a whole range of musical styles, including classical stuff.

Rebel Music volume 1, when it came out was very well-received as it contained less-than-usual tracks, rather than re-cycling old hits. Of course, the tunes on there since became available via other CDs

Cool Cool

I put the first LP on the turntable before I went to bed, this collection is AMAZING! Trully, I can recommend this to anyone!

Tks for this info Zapatoo, I`ll try to investigate with other sources (or maybe someone else here will have an interesting input on this case), anyway, I just checked the track list, and it seems very good. Hopefully, I`ll have a chance to listen to these records tonite.

Btw, the best think is, that for all the stuff mentioned above, I paid only 4900 CZK, that is "only" 155 GBP/ 195 EUR.

And I just recieved some info from the distributor, that he has some "fresh" sevens available, so hopefully, I`ll be able to put another similar post in following days...

Funny thing, in "welcome new memmbers forum", I posted that finding good records in here is difficult. And voila, few days after, I come with this...

I thought Fopp went belly-up recently! Certainly the store in Reading has closed down, which is a drag as it usually had a reasonable stock of Reggae+. Rolling Eyes
