This question may have been asked already, but is it safe to assume that Universal have deleted all existing Trojan Sanctuary releases and will re-press with a new catalogue number? I've had much frustration browsing Amazon UK and seeing so many great Trojan CDs unavailable brand new!

No idea for sure, Gav.

And while on the subject of catalogue numbers, aren't the universal ones just so anonymous? No "TR", "TTL" style or anything Sad Confused

Hows about getting some contemporary jockeys to compile discs of the sort of stuff they play out & about? Jim Cox could do a Reggae Train special, the boys from Brums sounds & pressure system, Brian & Phil could do a Scorcher sound clash. Hey, I'm getting carried away now! You lot could probably suggest some roots-orientated systems?

I doubt Universal would go for anyone as "unknown", striper...although I'm sure these would be wiser selections than the likes of that bloke out of Super Furry Animals (A FURRY SELECTION), Chris Coco (DUB CLUB) - who's he, anyway? - and Andy Smith (TROJAN DOCUMENT) - who's he?

Even Lee Perry's "go" wasn't unduly exciting.

Universal's only foray (so far) has been Jazzy B's (SCHOOL DAYS) - that could have been better thought out.

...but maybe I'm just a rusty old jade!

Hmmm! Gaz Mayall's selections have been good and the SCRATCHY SOUNDS was pretty good too

You think they would know better Zap! But, hey, they make the 'commercial' decisions I suppose, it's just a shame they don't chat to guys in the 'Know' like yourself & others before putting out silvers that no discerning Reggae fan would be too interested in.
A 'Crab' & 'Nu-beat' set would be cool!!

Those mixtapes were an underwhelming way to celebrate Trojan's 40th. There's no doubting the quality of the music, but mixtapes are highly subjective and most of the guest selectors are unfamiliar names.

Sure it was a fresh and interesting way to repackage Trojan, but maybe it would've worked better as downloads or playlists.

I never mentioned the possibly better known D.J. Derek's (SWEET MEMORY SOUNDS) selection - all good enough tunes, but just a musical yawn. I understand he does tend to stick to MOR Reggae, but surely he could have delved more deeply into his collection (all minidisc these days, isn't it?)

Maybe some "best of" label comps like Kent(Hi, Curtom, Loma, Dore etc.) did?

I'd like to see some Doctor Bird comps (not the standard ones but the scarce) or Amalgamated because I hardly know more than 30-40% of the records there!

Have Trojan the rights to the Doctor Bird singles I wonder?! They obviously have/had some access as they issued some of the more familiar ones (Phoenix City, Wuga Wuga etc). As you say Claudio, some of the more obscure ones would be nice. Cool
