Posted on Trojan, Pama and Chatty Mouth.

An old chestnut I know, but does anyone have any definitive information as to whether Laurel was (in fact) also Tiger ("Guilty" / "Soul of Africa") and King Horror ("Loch Ness Monster")?

Or not?

As far as I knew, King Horror was one "Evril Davey", whoever he actually was.

This has arisen out of a recent conversation I had with LC-H regarding further Laurel Aitken releases.

Here's some text from an email Laurence sent me...

Laurence Cane-Honeysett wrote:
It would seem that according to a number of sources (including the singer Honey Boy), Laurel Aitken was indeed Tiger of 'Guilty' fame, so what with this info and the fact that the 1972 'Fantastic Laurel Aitken' album doesn't accredit another artist for 'Soul Of Africa', I'm obviously beginning to question whether or not another performer was involved.

Having listened to an awful lot of his stuff of late, I have to admit to being surprised at the versatility of his work - by all accounts he was a bit of an impressionist, which was another reason I thought maybe his comments to me about King Horror weren't said in jest.

So if you know of anyone out there who has any concrete information in regard the identity of Tiger, I'd love to hear it, especially as some of the tracks accrediting the artist are soon to appear on CD.

Any definitive help or info appreciated.

Every so often the subject of Tiger and `Guilty' pops up. This must be a legendary tune and just recently there was another comment that `Guilty' was based on a tune by Isaac Hayes.
I'd love to hear them back to back so if anyone feels like posting them Wink Wink Wink thta'd be great.
PS Does anyone remeber Tiger of `Puppy Love' fame

It was almost a word-for-word copy of Ike's rap on I STAND ACCUSED.

I don't have that, neither do I have GUILTY digitally, except on the Camel single and Straighten Up vol. 2.

Didn't I have a topic of sorts earlier about it being Rico and Laurel Aitken as King Horror?

It's in LCH and Michael's book, the YG&B book. Laurel was King Horror.

I'm sure the errors in that book have been discussed before, the one I remember was the picture of an orange and white Trojan label being described as the all orange Duke Reid label Exclamation

Interesting that LCH seems to have tracked down Honey Boy. Wish he'd told me about it Shocked Crying or Very Sad

The 'Tiger' enigma rolls on then Confused The Tiger track that DOESN'T sound remotely like Laurel is 'Our Day Will Come' (flip side of 'Have You Ever Been Hurt?'). But it's odd that, unlike the Lord Davey issue, nobody in the Reggae world seems to know anything about an artist known as Tiger or what became of him.
