Yes thats because Carl Dawkins is HUGE in France Laughing

Anyone who has ever seen Mr Dawkins LIVE knows how GREAT an entertainer he is, this does not always transfer onto vinyl (bit like Roy Shirley in his younger days, much better live than on vinyl). Confused

Power to SOME of the people Crying or Very Sad (as usual)

surely there are more people out there who are voted for stuff thats not on this collection Question

Not sure a lot of us would go for new recordings. If it's a toss up between two Alton CDs, I'll go for the forthcoming Trojan one. But then I'm middle-aged and set in my ways.

As usual the 3rd disc is ALL FILLER & NO KILLER. Getting a bit predictable now. Could this be the future...
Disc one - Killer Ja Rhythms
Disc two - Chalk Farm Tunes
Disc three - The London Philharmonic Orchestra Plays The Greatest Hits Of......... Wink Wink

It could happen Laughing

Upsetter

Like your description for Disc 3 - in fact, this could form the basis for a box set on its own bearing in mind the number of "stringed up" issues there have been in the late 60s and 70s.

On the subject of strings does anyone remember a vinyl album entitled "Reggae Strings" issued in the 70s? - basically remixes with the vocal track faded in to the background and sleeve notes by the late Alex Hughes!

I have the LP cover in my hand (well, almost) right now, allmcc - Trojan TRLS54 and released in 1973.

Amusingly, after all the grumbles we've made in the forum about the version of Greyhound's "Moon River" that's been on CD so far, the "Moon River" on this LP is the same rhythm, with horns (though rather mixed into the background) - obviously no vocals, other than a girlie chorus repeating "...moon river..." a few times.

There was also a Volume 2 of this - I don't have a copy (I think johnnyprampram does - he may be able to comment)

I'm not the biggest fan of reggae with strings (unless it's guitar or bass strings Wink ), but this LP was always a pleasant "listen" - I think I'll let it play... Smile

My brother's got volume two, the first volume was a white cover and the second blue with a collage of violins in the centre.

Actually a good design IMO. Embarrassed
